Recently I had a very bad experience. I stopped my car at the Nugegoda junction because the red light was on. There were few vehicles in front of me. When the green light came on, I naturally began to move but we couldn’t, because in the meantime a whole of lot of pedestrians started to cross the road. After that, I couldn’t cross the road, because again the red light was on. What I did was I moved my vehicle forward despite the red light, having decided that if a traffic policeman asks me why I am moving when the red light is on, I will tell him the story and I will ask him "who is going to fine pedestrians who cross the road when the Green light is on?"
When a driver moves the vehicle when the red light is on, he is fined. But when a pedestrian crosses the road when the green light is on, it goes totally unnoticed. Over to you, relevant authorities.
