This is with reference to that article in the Island of the 18th May at the bottom of page three. I am one who has always been concerned with the unity of this Country and I wish the signatories had the patience to wait for the expected speech of the Head of State after the end of the 30 year war, as it is likely that some of their concerns may be answered. Be that as it may, I have a fair knowledge of the history of the so-called communal problem here, going back to the 19th century. Can the distinguished signatories please elaborate on the sum and substance of the ‘six decades of ethnic discrimination’ in this country, constitutionally or otherwise ? That will surely be very useful for those like us,to work towards a united Country in the future.
