Close on the heels of pro-LTTE Tamilnet claim that LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran had survived Monday’s bloody military onslaught, Army Chief General Sarath Fonseka yesterday declared that his troops had found the body of the terrorist leader.

General Fonseka, in a special statement aired over Rupavahini, said that he made the announcement on behalf of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. A jubilant Army Chief said that the scourge of LTTE

No longer are there minorities in this country - President
President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said that there would no longer be divisions among minorities and majorities in this country on the basis of ethnicity but only on the basis of people’s patriotism.

‘LTTE offered to surrender through ICRC’
The ICRC last night said the LTTE had wanted to surrender to the Sri Lankan Government through the ICRC.

Karuna identifies Prabha
Former LTTE deputy leader UPFA Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan alias Karuna yesterday identified the body of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran.Muralitharan visited Vellamulliwaikkal east on the Nanthikadal lagoon where troops of the 53 Division showed him the body.
