

The welfare camps in Vanni will be fumigated by health workers to prevent an outbreak of an epidemiological situation, Chief of the Government Nursing Officers’ Association (GNOA), Saman Ratnapriya said yesterday (21). A special team from the south will visit the camps in Vavuniya today (22).
The team would include fifteen Public Health Inspectors, 15 entomological assistants, and ten midwives. The main aim would be to prevent the out break of a mosquito born diseases like dengue.
The PHIs and the nursing teams would also screen children and assess their nutritional level, he said.
The GNOA Chief said they would also visit hospitals in the North to analyse what more could be done to strengthen the health services provided by the nurses and paramedical staff.
