

Mt. Lavinia Chief Magistrate Harsha Setunge yesterday remanded three more directors, including a directress of the Golden Key Credit Card Company.
The remanded suspects are Alagaiya Daniel Jegasothy, Padmini Karunanayake and Bandula Ranaweera.
Two others, Shehara Fernando and Anita Casim, were ordered to appear in Courts when noticed. Shehara Fernando was ordered to make a statement to the CID. The Magistrate ordered that the passports of the suspects to be surrendered to Courts. An application by Attorney at Law M. M. M. Ameen Counsel for his client Auditor of the Golden Key Credit Card Company Nallan Tuwan, said to be to be a terminally ill cancer patient, to be examined by the Judicial Medical Officer was allowed.
Deputy Solicitor General Sarath Jayamanne in his submissions said that Shehara Fernando knew the absconding third suspect Cecile Kotelawala. A sum amounting to Rs. 440 million was yet to be received by the Golden Key Credit Card Company from its affiliates.
He said 1,365 files of the Golden Key entity were to be investigated. The CID had recently probed the documents of Kotelawala’s office and recovered some travel documents which revealed that Kotelawala intended to travel abroad last December (30).
Rienzi Arasakularatne PC appearing for Chairman of the Ceylinco Consolidated Deshamanya Lalith Kotelawala submitted that Auditor Nallan Tuwan had submitted false audit reports to Lalith Kotelawala.
In a revision bail application the Counsel made a plea for bail under any conditions for Kotelawala.
Defence Counsel Nalin Laduwahetty, referring to a slight disturbance by the audience, composed largely of Golden Key depositors, said that the act was tantamount to contempt of Court and the perpetrators were liable to be jailed. He also referred to a public commotion.
The submissions drew a heated response from the Magistrate who told the Counsel that he (Magistrate) had treated him with tolerance throughout the proceedings.
The case will be taken up again on June 18.
