The army said that troops deployed in the Kadawana jungles in the Trincomalee District had killed ten LTTE cadres including three leaders in a confrontation between troops and the LTTE.
An army official told The Island that bodies had been recovered along with seven T-56 assault rifles, one M 16 rifle, eight hand grenades, one 7 kg claymore mine and one radio set. He identified the three leaders as Sathyan Master, Nakthan and Oviyan.
