LTTE terrorists masquerading as refugees in the developed world have laid bare their true faces. Their reaction to the decimation of the LTTE has been to attack anti-terror Sri Lankan expatriates. Their violence has left several people severely injured. In Australia, LTTE activists have even carried out acid attacks on some Sri Lankans. Worse, the perpetrators have not yet been made to pay for their crime in that five star democracy! In Britain, terrorists have descended on Sri Lankan, Indian and Chinese missions in London, some restaurants and temples with impunity. LTTE members are also on the warpath in Canada and several other countries.

Strangely, the so-called international community, which is pontificating to Sri Lanka and other aid-dependent nations on the virtues of civil liberties and the rule of law, is doing precious little to deal with the terrorists on the rampage. Australia is so conscious of human rights that when a dog bit a burglar inside a house a few years ago, its owner was ordered to pay compensation to the thief for keeping a biting dog, mind you, inside his own house! But, the Australian government is not doing enough to protect Sri Lankans against acid-throwing Tigers.

The objective of Tigers' violence overseas is clear. They are all out to provoke a backlash in this country and they will crank up their craven terror attacks with a view to creating a situation where they will be able to market their macabre cause to the world community once again and revive the LTTE. Anti-terror activists both here and abroad ought to act with utmost restraint without walking into LTTE desperados' trap.

The Sri Lankan government must take up the issue of LTTE terrorism abroad with its counterparts concerned and ask them to put their house in order before championing human rights in other countries. British Foreign Secretary David Miliband and French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner must be asked to rein in their pet man-eaters on home soil.

At least now, the developed world should realise the danger of harbouring the scum of the earth in the name of sheltering refugees. The LTTE abused their benevolence and misplaced liberal values to infiltrate their societies and further its interests.

How dangerous it is for the western nations to have thousands of well trained bloodthirsty murderers on their soil goes without saying. As it is popularly said in this country, they have 'harboured venomous snakes under their garments'.
