UNP wants re-count their votes
Twenty five defeated candidates of the UNP yesterday filed a petition in the Supreme Court, requesting a re-count of the preference votes polled by them at the Provincial Council Poll held in the Colombo District April 25, 2009.
They wanted the already declared results of the UNP candidates nullified by the Court and results declared afresh, after the re-count.
The petitioners had alleged corrupt practice by the Election Officers, which benefitted some candidates.
