A man in yellow robes who attempted to cash a forged one thousand rupee note at the Matara Hospital canteen was arrested by the Police.

He claimed that he was from Colombo. He was produced before Matara Magistrate K. Peiris who released him on Rs 5000 cash bail and Rs 50,000 surety bail.

The case will be taken up again on July 20.
