Eighth Asian Baseball Championship on May 24

The eighth Asian Baseball Championship will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from May 24 to 31 with the participation of ten Asian countries. Sri Lanka Amateur baseball Association has selected a squad of 18 players to represent the country at the Championship.

The players were introduced to the media during a media briefing at Sports and Recreation Ministry on Thursday. The official uniforms and air tickets were presented to the players by Minister of Sports Gamini Lokuge during the ceremony.

Baseball was introduced to Sri Lanka by United States in 1984 and Sri Lanka have participated in four Asian Baseball Championships so far. In these championships the country has beaten Singapore, Iran, and Hong Kong.

The Sri Lankan team will be captained by Amila Pathiraja while Shinya Urushibara will be the team coach.
