You can give yourself a treat by taking a walk or driving along Reid Avenue and viewing the paintings done by students of 21 leading Colombo schools on the walls of the old Race Course facing Royal College. Sponsored by the People’s Bank, the theme of this project organized with the Defence Ministry together with TRIADAID was an effort reflecting patriotism in the country on the occasion of the end of the long war overcoming terrorism. The organizers said that the philosophy of the project included combating the problem of wall abuses commonly seen throughout the city. The student painters could choose one of three themes – how Sri Lanka was united in the past, the effects of the war on the country and how the students see the future Sri Lanka. |
