On a request by Labour Minister Mervyn Silva, the Philatelic Bureau of Department of Posts will shortly issue a First Day Cover honouring President Mahinda Rajapaksa for taking the bold decision to defeat the LTTE and eradicate terrorism in Sri Lanka.

The First Day Cover also portrays Defence Secretary Gotahabaya Rajapaksa, Army Commander Gen. Sarath Fonseka, Navy Commander Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda, Air Force Commander Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonatileke, Chief of Defence Staff Air Chief Marshal Donald Perera and Inspector General of Police Jayantha Wickremaratne.

"For me President Mahinda Rajapakse is a King. One can be born into a family of kings, but everybody is not destined to be a king. But President Rajapaksa is a real king. In fact, people of Sri Lanka are blessed to have a leader like King Rajapaksa," he added.

He said that Sri Lanka’s history has to be re-written. After Parakramabahu VI, President Rajapaksa is the only leader to save the country.
