A Sri Lankan woman, Michelle Samaraweera, 35, a widow, was found dead in a Walthamstow park at 5.50am on Saturday, May 30. Police who revealed that she was strangled are trying to establish whether she was sexually assaulted before being killed.

Ms. Samaraweera who lived alone in Kielder Close, Hainalut in East London was unemployed. His husband died of a cancer few years ago.

Ms. Samaraweera was last seen at the nearby Somerfield Supermarket in Markhouse Road at 1 a.m.

Two men, aged 29 and 35, were arrested on Saturday May 30. Both have been bailed to return on separate dates in June and July.

Two other men, aged 32 and 34, were arrested in connection with the murder and are currently in custody.
