A 14-year-old student who was admonished by his sister for smoking cigarettes committed suicide by consuming an insecticide.

According to Police investigations, the student from Wathurawa in Deniyaya had consumed a small quantity of the insecticide just to frighten his sister. The incident occurred on May 28. Since he took ill after consuming the stuff he was admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital where he died last morning (3).
