

The Sri Lanka Economic Summit, organized by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce for the 10th time this year, brings onto the discussion table topics that would best serve the development of the nation.
During the sessions the speakers and participants will explore how challenges could be converted into opportunities and opportunities turned into time-bound action plans. The challenges and opportunities, both external and internal, would require cohesive effort from all stakeholders and the program for the summit has been designed to generate fresh ideas, a consensus view and a clear vision for the development of Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2009, themed "Dawning of a new Era … Opportunities & Challenges" will take place from June 30 to the 2nd of July at the Cinnamon Grand, Colombo. The invaluable sponsorship of Airtel, the CORE project, The Asia Foundation, Cinnamon Grand Hotel and BBDO SWARA has aided immensely in organizing an event of this magnitude.
Technical sessions at this time’s summit include "Agriculture, Dairy, Fisheries & Tourism Sectors - Opportunities for the Private Sector" where the keynote addresses would be made by B R L Fernando * Non-Executive Chairman, CIC PLC and Dr Janusz Szyrmer Economic Policy Advisor, CORE Project. Panelists include Hon Hemakumara Nanayakkara Non Cabinet Minister, Ministry of Agricultural Development and Agrarian Services, Neomal Perera * Deputy Minister of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Prof Buddhi Marambe, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, Sarath Silva, Chairman, International Food Stuff & Agri Bio Tech (Pvt) Ltd, Roshan Fernando, Director / CEO, Tropic Frozen Food (Pvt) Ltd and Srilal Miththapala President, Tourist Hotels Association of Sri Lanka. The moderator for this session would be Ariyaratne Hewage, Former Secretary, Ministry of Education.
At the session on "North East Accelerated Socio and Economic Development" the keynote addresses would be by a Senior Government Representative and Dr Stephen Lewarne Senior Vice President and Director Economic Growth, Governance and Reconstruction Division, Aecom International Development
