The Democratic Tamil National Alliance (DTNA) has decided to contest the Polls to Jaffna MC and Vavuniya UC, political sources said yesterday

Ex- Vanni Dist MP and Leader of the Peoples Liberation Organization of Tamil Eelam, Dharmalingham Siddharthan, told The Island that only after reading media reports yesterday that he found to his amusement that there was an alliance between the DTNA and the Tamil National Alliance (TNA)and that he was supposed to contest the Local government elections".

He said that the Democratic Tamil National Alliance consisted of three political parties, the EPRLF (Naba Wing) of which the General Secretary is T. Sritharan, the TULF, led by veteran Tamil Politician V. Anandasangari and his own party the PLOTE.

"I have not given any thought to contesting a local body and even if I were to contest it will not be having anything to do with the Tamil National Alliance," he said.
