Additional Commissioner of Elections (Provincial and Local) W. P. Sumanasiri said yesterday that accepting of applications for Postal Voting for Polls to Jaffna MC, Vavuniya UC and the Uva Provincial Council had commenced.

He said that both elections would be held according to the Electoral Register for 2009 and requested all registered voters who do not have the National Identity Card (NIC) or any alternate identification which is valid to apply early to their respective District Assistant Commissioners of Elections for temporary identity cards for voting.

He said that nominations for the Uva Provincial Council would commence from June (17).

Asisstant Commissioner of Elections for the Jaffna District P. Kuhanathan requested all displaced voters who are eligible to vote to forward their applications without delay to the Commissioner of Elections, c/o Elections Secreteriat, Sarana Mawatha, Rajagiriya.
