Sri Lanka Cricket yesterday announced the names of its new national selection committee and the junior cricket selection committee.

Following have been appointed for the two committees. Former Sri Lanka Test cap Ashantha de Mel continues to head the national selectors while Sunil Wickramanayake will be the chairman of the new junior selection committee.

National Selection Committee:

Ashantha de Mel (Chairman), Don Arunasiri, Anura Tennekoon, Chaminda Mendis and Vinodhan John

Junior Selection Committee:

Sunil Wickramanayake (Chairman), Ruchira Palliyaguru, Duminda Wickramasinghe, R.A.N. Perera, Nishantha Perera, Dilshan de Silva (SLSCA Representative) and Sisira Weerasinghe (SLSCA Representative)

A communiqué issued by the SLC yesterday also says the junior selection committee has already decided to select players for the Under-19 pool from the District Tournament, which will be played from June to August.

‘The cream of crop would be picked from the Inter-Provincial Under-19, Inter-District Under-19 and the Under-23 Tournaments that will be played during aforementioned period,’ the communiqué further adds.
