Sri Lanka Women beat Pakistan by 4 wkts

In a Pool ‘B’ encounter of the Women’s Twenty-20 World Cup, Sri Lanka Women beat Pakistan Women by four wickets in their opening match at Taunton on Friday (June 12).

After restricting Pakistan to 104 for seven in their 20 overs, Sri Lanka reached the target with 10 balls to go with a loss of only six wickets.

The 31-year-old Inoka Galagedara scored 37 in 41 balls with 4 fours to guide Sri Lanka to the emphatic win in 18.2 overs while Eshani Kaushalya made a valuable 23 in 21.

Kaushalya earlier took three wickets for 16 in four overs in the Pakistani innings to win the Player of the Match award. Bismah Maharoof was the top scorer for the losing team as she struck 50 in 64 balls.

Meanwhile in another match held at the same venue, New Zealand Women beat their Australian rivals by nine wickets with 22 balls remaining.
