Dr. S. M. M. Ismail has been appointed Vice Chancellor of the South Eastern University.

He succeeds Dr. Hussain Ismail, who leaves the University having completed two terms in the position.

Dr. Ismail joined this university at the inception and served as senior lecturer in the Department of Economics.

He holds a Ph.D from the National University of Economics, Ukraine and a Post Doctoral Degree from the University of Bradford, England.

The Island of 29 May reported dissatisfaction of the academic staff and the council over the long delay in appointing a Vice Chancellor.
