‘Suwanari Clinic Service’ to uplift women’s health

Public Health Specialist Dr. (Mrs) Nettanjali Mapitigama said the Family Health Bureau will conduct the ‘Suwanari Health Service’, to uplift women’s health.

Women over the age of 35 years will be treated under this clinic service programme, the Information Department said.

This service commenced in 1996 in all the medical divisions with a clinic in each division island-wide. 672 clinics have been established upto now.

Ordinary medical check-up, body weight according to the height, checking of blood pressure, urine and blood test for diabetes, family planning service, mammography and cervical investigations will be undertaken under this clinic service, which will be conducted in all the public health officers divisions, hospitals, health related institutions in the public health officers division. Family health and children’s health will be attended by the Family health officers in the clinic and awareness programme also will be initiated by visiting their houses.

Family Health Officers in the Suwanari Clinic will direct the patients to the respective specialists for further investigations. A maximum 25 women will be attended to in each clinic.
