Students, teachers to collect Rs. 100 million to build
houses for War Heroes
Students, teachers and principals of schools in the Kurunegala District have launched a fund-raising project to build 125 houses for the families of brave war-heroes who sacrificed their noble lives in liberating our motherland from LTTE terrorism.
Mr. K. M. Amaratunge Herath, a senior school principal in the Bingiriya electorate told The Island that the target was to collect a sum of 100 million. The proposed houses would be built in the North western Province.
He said, most of the fallen war-heroes didn’t posses even a plot of land to build a house of their own.
Mr. Athula Wijesinghe, North Western Province chief Minister too has now launched a massive programme to assist the family members of the dead heroes with the help of patriotic voluntary organizations in the NWP, he added.
