I dreamt of a terror free Sri Lanka, I know it was every ones dream too, irrespective of the cast, creed or ethnicity. We longed to live freely, to move about without the fear of not being able to return home due to a terror attack. We were concerned about the safety of our loved ones waiting in suspense until they return home in the evening .We all wished that things would be normal & different, yet due to various reasons we were helpless.

What stood between us & the terror was you, who had an unwavering commitment & a dedication to eradicate terrorism from Sri Lanka. You allowed us to carry on with our normal lives or what was left of it by selflessly sacrificing your own comforts .While we enjoyed with our families & loved ones, you left your own and stood guard against all odds. The journey through the portals of Royal College learning of books & men sure would have given you the courage and the ability to stand out for justice & righteousness and humanity in this world. The time has come for us to salute you with gratitude & pay tribute for making our dreams come true while sacrificing yours.

On the first day of July the main gates of Royal College, traditionally opened only for a visit by the head of state or only in a very special occasion will open wide to honor & pay tribute to the Royalists who paid the supreme sacrifice for the motherland & to receive their brothers in arms who fought side by side with them to protect the sovereignty & the territorial integrity of Sri Lanka ,and the next of kin of fallen heroes.

The Royalists young & old, past and present with their teachers, parents & families will gather around the war memorial, where the names of the fallen heroes are immortalized in time. To pay respect, honor and say that they are finally free from the burden they carried and Sri Lanka today is one country, one nation under one flag.
