Iran’s opposition leader has rejected a partial recount of the recent presidential election and insists the disputed results be nullified.

In a statement on a Mousavi-affiliated Web site Sunday, he also called for independent arbiters in the dispute. Mousavi alleges victory was stolen from him through fraud.

Iran’s ruling clergy have declared President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the winner and ruled out a revote.

Iran’s top electoral body, the 12-member Guardian Council, has proposed recounting 10 percent of the votes in the June 12 election. On Friday, the council offered to bring in six more political figures to oversee a partial recount.
