The curtain falls on ‘IPM - Great HR Debate’
‘The Great HR Debate’ which was the talk of the town for the past three months or so, reached its grand finale at the BMICH recently, with the much awaited ‘ Clash of the Banking Giants’, namely HSBC vs Commercial Bank. And how!
The jam-packed audience in the main hall of the BMICH was treated to a debate like no other with the protagonists from both banks displaying all their verbal wrangling, albeit suave and intense; their oral and convincing skills emerge to near perfection. The battle raged on – it was a ding-dong tussle with ebb and flow, the thrust and parry of their different opinions adding colour and excitement that evening.
The panel of judges at this crucial debating finals were: Messrs Jayanta Jayaratna [Chairman – Panel of Judges and Past President IPM, Management Consultant], M R Prelis [Former CEO, Director – DFCC Bank and former CEO Nations Trust Bank, ex-Chairman CEB]; Prof Gamini De Alwis [Faculty of Management & Finance, University of Colombo] Ms Akshaya Singh Shekhawat [Hewit Associates, India]
At the end of day there could be only one winner as the heat and dust settled during that cool Colombo evening. And the eventual winner: Team Commercial Bank who was awarded the glittering trophy especially crafted for this innovative ‘The Great HR Debate’. HSBC were declared worthy runners up and also awarded relevant trophy. Both teams proudly displayed their prizes much to the delight of their respective supporters who had come in their numbers to back their teams.
