The Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) yesterday announced that it would not allow the use of the title ‘Ranaviru’ as a prefix for candidates in polls campaigns without the prior approval of Secretary to the Ministry of Defence.

Director, MCNS, Lakshman Hulugalle in a statement issued to media said that some persons were using such a revered title quite irresponsibly for polls campaigns.

Apart from such personnel in the armed forces or those who have left the services following accepted procedures, no other person would be permitted to use the Ranaviru title, he said.
