Killed by hit and run lorry
A lorry knocked down a motor cyclist at Wakwella Main Road at Hapugala junction killing him yesterday (29) around 5.00 a.m. and proceeded without stopping. The pillion rider was seriously injured.
The deceased was identified as 21 year old Pitigala Dilshan Shanaka of Giniumalgaha. He was a technician attached to the Road Development Authority. Malinda Wijesundera (33) of Telikada of the Weerawila Air Force base was severely injured.
Galle Coroner A. H. M. Awun visited the scene and directed the body be depatched to the Karapitiya Hospital. A Police team headed by Poddala OIC Asoka Karunaratne is investigating.
