School girl in fatal accident

At the inquest held on Saturday into the death of a 13-year-old school girl of Kiri Ibbanwewa Bandaranayake MV, Gamage Kaushalya Jinendra Ishara by City Corner Edward Ahangama a verdict of accidental death was returned.

It transpired at the inquest that the motorcyclist who knocked her down at a pedestrian crossing was not in possession of a valid ridding licence.

The owner of the Motorcycle Muduyanselage Kavindra said that suspect Hewawalakuluge Samantha had requested the ignition keys of the motor cycle but he had refused. The suspect had then taken the keys without his consent.

The girl was bleeding from a leg. She was admitted to the National Hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.

AJMO Wathsala Wagasenevi who held the post mortem stated that death was due to multiple injuries.

PC 64245 Upul led evidence assisted by PS 27689 Pathirana.
