The Sri Lanka Chamber of Small Industry has organised a 12-member Trade Mission to Dhaka, Bangladesh, leaving mid July 2009. The mission will be led by Aloy Jayawardene, President of the Chamber.
The Programme to Bangladesh has been arranged by the Sri Lankan High Commission in Dhaka. V. Krishnamoorthy. The High Commissioner has arranged meetings with four major Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Dhaka, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Foreign Investments Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Sri Lanka -Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, also one to one meetings and visits to factories. The delegation is also due to have a meeting with the Minister of Trade and his officials.
The delegation comprises Exporters, Importers and Investors who want to trade in domestic rubber goods, engineering products, automotive parts, interior designing, garments accessories, electrical and mechanical service providers, stewarding detergents, etc.
The Mission is expected to strengthen Sri Lanka trade and investment ties with Bangladesh and reveal a range of interesting possibilities which are yet to be tapped in this vital area of bi-lateral relations. The present volume of bilateral trade does not reflect the full potential in this area, even on a conservative estimate.
