SLRCS distributes  drinking water to IDPs
The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) has begun distribution of drinking water to IDPs in welfare centres in Zone 4 of Manik Farm, Vavuniya, through the newly installed Water Treatment Plant with purification facilities.

75,000 litres of water will be distributed to IDPs daily through Red Cross bowsers. SLRCS has planned to increase the distribution of water up to 200,000 litres per day from next week. Water will be obtained from a nearby tank.

The decision to set up the water treatment plant was taken after the recent visit of a Red Cross delegation headed by SLRCS President Jagath Abeysinghe to Vavuniya, with Coordinating Secretary to the President, (Parliamentary Affairs) Kumarasiri Hettige.

Water has been continuously provided by the Red Cross for more than 57,000 internally displaced people.
