Imthisham Mohideen Head Coach Wesley College rugby told The Island that winning the A Division Group B tournament was a stepping stone for the future goals set for rugby by the school. "We don’t consider winning the Group B tournament as a milestone at rugby. We badly needed to get out of this group (B Group). Winning this tournament has helped us get promoted to the Group A. We are looking forward to contest the President’s Trophy (A) tournament and believe Wesley can challenge most of the top teams, in this tournament," Mohideen said after the team’s match against Zahira.
Mohideen highlighted the fitting combination between the forwards and the threes as the key factor that enabled the team to have a grand season at rugby.
Wesley’s rugby team was assisted in their endeavor to remain unbeaten by Imthisham Thaam and Veediya Bandara who functioned as assistant coaches.
