N. G. S. Jayaweera of Kalutara District Boxing Club made his mark when he won the Best Boxer’s award, defeating R. M. P. B. Rathnayake of Unichela by 9 points to one at the Intermediate Boxing Championship held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. The tournament ended on Thursday.

Meanwhile, in the women’s category, B. N. Erandhi of MAS Southern Boxing Club also impressed and won the Best Boxer’s award defeating H. S. Malkanthi of the Sri Lanka Navy.
