Employees of the Ceylon Electricity Board have decided to stage a one day strike in protest against the CEB authorities to redress their grievances in spite of several warnings followed by a sick note campaign on Friday.
The date of the strike would be decided today, CEB United Trade Union Front spokesman Ranjan Jayalal told The Island yesterday.
"Power supply may not be restored until Monday," Jayalal said. "Since the government was engaged in war, we postponed our protest. Although the war is now over, the government is not taking any action to rectify CEB workers’ salary anomalies, he said.
