At a meeting chaired by
UNP and Opposition leader Ranil Wickremasinghe it was decided to appoint
three committees to work out modalities of forming a broader Opposition
alliance to face future elections.The meeting held on Tuesday at the
Cambridge Terrace Office of the leader of the Opposition was attended by
SLFP (M) leader MP Mangala Samaraweera, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Leader
MP Rauff Hakim and Western People’s Front leader MP Mano Ganeshan. It
was also decided that the report of the committees be made available
before the end of July.
UNP Deputy leader Karu Jayasuriya, General Secretary, Tissa
Attanayake, National Organiser S.B.Dissanayake, MPs Ravi Karunanayake
and Kabir Hasim were also present.
