

SAARC transport confab from today
The second SAARC conference on transport begins today (25) at 9 am at the Colombo Hilton presided by Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake.
Transport Ministers of Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan will participate in the conference. The inaugural SAARC conference on transport was held in New Delhi on August 31, 2007.
Facilities for convenient transport of people and goods among SAARC nations, a ferry service from Colombo to Tuticorin in South India and a Colombo-Talaimannar-Chennai train service would be taken up for discussion at today’s meeting.
