Friday, Jul 24: BANGALORE: A Sri Lankan national, who attempted to travel to London from Bengaluru International Airport on a fake passport and an expired visa, was arrested by Immigration officials on Wednesday. Ratnam Nixon (33), a resident of Valchanapatti in Sri Lanka, had used the passport belonging to Dasan Mangudi of Chennai, the police said.

The passport had been issued from Mangudi from Thiruchirapalli and was valid till 2015. Further, the officials said that the visa issued by the United Kingdom had expired on July 13, and that Nixon had manipulated the date.

A suspicious Immigration Inspector Shakuntala Gowder verified the documents only to find them not in order. The accused was handed over to airport police.
