Child killer stoned to death
Villagers stoned to death a suspect being hunted by Police in connection with the rape and murder of a 13-year-old school girl in Central Camp, Ampara.
The girl had been raped and murdered on Wednesday evening and the suspect was killed on Thursday night, Police said.
According to police investigations, the crime was committed a little distance away from her home. As the girl did not return home, her parents looked for her with the help of their neighbours and on Thursday the body of the girl was recovered from a stream near a saw mill.
Investigations revealed that the girl had been strangled to death.
Police immediately launched a search for him and the villagers, too, followed suit.
However, the villagers were able to locate him first and attacked him with stones. When the Police arrived he was already dead. Investigations have revealed that the 32-year-old suspect was an ex-LTTE cadre, who had arrived at the Central Camp a few months ago and was engaged in odd jobs.
