Prageeth Udugampola (28) and Ashen Rodrigo (18) played leading roles for St. Joseph’s College who coasted to an 87-45 victory over Amal International College, Colombo in the All Island Group D Under-19 basketball match played at the Amal International School Basketball court on Wednesday.

At half time, the winners were comfortably ahead 47-24.

Meanwhile, in the second match of the day played at the same venue Nalanda College beat AIS by 58 points to 45 in a closely contested game. Ruchira Naotunne (19) and Thivanka Perera (14) were the best shooters for the Nalandians while Chamara netted 21 points for AIS.

Forty three schools in five groups are competing in the tournament. The first round matches will be played on a league basis and the second round will be played among the top two teams from each group.
