A lorry crashed into a house at the Kalalpitiya junction on Sunday evening killing two policemen, the driver and the cleaner of the lorry. The lorry was travelling towards Matale from Kandy and there were two policemen in the lorry returning home after Kandy Esela Perahera duty

Except for one policeman who died in hospital the rest succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident.

Police said two houses were badly damaged in the incident.

According initial investigations and eye witness accounts, the lorry driver lost control when negotiating a bend.
