Suicide bomber strikes funeral in Iraq, killing 5

BAGHDAD (AP) - Iraqi police say as many as five people have been killed in a suicide bombing targeting a funeral west of Baghdad.

Police say the attacker detonated his explosives belt at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday while mourners were gathered in a funeral tent in the Anbar province town of Khladiyah.

Police say the funeral was being held for a police officer who was killed by a roadside bomb the night before.

One police officer says two policemen and three civilians were killed and 13 other people wounded in the attack.

Provincial police commander Maj. Gen. Tariq Youssef has confirmed two police officers were killed and six wounded but says he can’t immediately give more information about civilian casualties or other details.
