Eastern Provincial Minister and his coordinator M. S, Lafir were released on cash bail of Rs. 100,000 by Kalmunai Magistrate N. M. Abdullah.

Magistrate Abdullah had ordered the police to arrest the Minister and produce him before Court on alleged charges of assault on Z. Nasrullah, a resident of Maruthamunai.

A police motion to Court to withdraw the order was rejected by Court.

The case has been fixed for hearing on August 18.
