

SLA Inter Regiment Athletic Championships
Ranathunga and Ekanayake establish records on day one
Sri Lanka Artillery regiment gunner K.P.K. Ranathunga excelled, clearing a distance of 66.31 meters to establish a new meet record in the men’s javelin throw, while Service Corps’ K.S.C. Ekanayake cleared a height of 2.03 meters in the men’s high jump, also to establish a new record on the first day of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Inter Regiment Athletic Championship at the Sugathadasa Stadium, on Tuesday.
In four other finals held in the morning and afternoon sessions E.P. Nilmini (SLAWC)- women’s shot putt, M.G.C.N. Gamage (SLEME)-men’s triple jump, S.V.A. Kusumawathi (SLAWC)- women’s 400 metres hurdles and K.K.N. Udayangani (SLAWC) in the women’s triple jump won golds for their respective regiments.
Today is the second day of the championship.
