Vermin helps Kudu Lal flee

While the government’s anti-crime drive has got into the Over Drive mode with several underworld kingpins making sudden trips to the other world under mysterious circumstances, Vermin, who pollutes the holly township of Kelaniya, helped a narcotics czar known as Kudu Lal flee the country last week.

The Island recently pointed out editorially that the scum of the earth in Sri Lanka had found a safe haven in Kelaniya courtesy of Vermin and urged the government to begin its anti-crime operations from that area if it dared.

Vermin, we learn, escorted Kudu Lal right up to his flight leaving no room for his pursuers to strike on the way. Over a year ago, he foiled an attempt by the police to take his kudu friend by providing him with shelter.

Kudu Lal had become a prime target of anti-narcotics sleuths on the trail of sharkes in the drugs trade. Vermin managed to save his kudu pal.

While the government is battling criminals with one hand it is rescuing them with the other. What?
