      Editorial:Traitors all?  Politics:GSP+: An open letter to the European Commission  

Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa yesterday said that though the LTTE had been military crushed once and for all, attempts were being made to rescue hardcore terrorists taking refuge among civilians accommodated in welfare centres in the Vavuniya region. He warned that this could be a part of an overall strategy to explore ways and means of reviving the organization.

Nandana seizes an opportunity
Tourism Minister Nandana Gunatillake seized the opportunity of his presence on Thursday at the Swiss National Day reception as chief guest representing the government to lobby Switzerland to relax its travel advisory on Sri Lanka.The ex-JVPer who withdrew from the presidential race as his then party’s candidate on CBK’s broken promise that the executive presidency will be abolished in the sort term if she won the 1994 presidency, comfortably read a prepared English text where he said that some 40,000 Lankans were productively contributing to the Swiss economy.
