Matara Police last week arrested a prisoner who had fled from the Matara prison on the day of the Tsunami. He was at the Devinuwara Esala Perahera with his wife, when he was arrested.

He had been working as a labourer in the area since escaping from prison. Police said they are investigating whether he was involved in any of the robberies that took place in the Urubokka area after his escape.
