Kurunegala High Court Judge Manila Waidyatillake ordered a man who had forcibly taken away a differently abled girl by pointing a knife at her, kept her captive for five days and seduced her, to pay Rs 150,000 as compensation.

The Judge also imposed a suspended sentence of two years rigorous imprisonment for seven years and a Rs 5,000 fine and another six months rigorous imprisonment in the event of failure pay fine.

The Defence Counsel argued that the complainant had told her about the incident only after six months of the incident when she was hospitalized for child birth.
