At a glittering function attended by the prime customers, Directors and Senior Officials of the bank recently, BOC unveiled the latest addition to their Card family the "Visa Platinum" card, renowned throughout the world as a prestigious and exclusive credit card.

Ajith Nivard Cabraal Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Dr. Gamini Wickramasinghe, Chairman BOC ceremonially launched the new card whilst the first BOC Black card was presented to Sohli Captain, Chairman/CEO of Paints and General Industries, well known corporate personality and a long standing customer of the Bank by Cabraal.

B. A. C. Fernando General Manager of Bank of Ceylon welcoming the distinguished guests said that "BOC is proud to have a 7.5 million strong customer base. Consequently,, BOC could afford not to compromise quality in favor of volumes as we could depend on our existing customers to expand our card base" .

Referring to the new product of high status introduced by his Card Centre, Sarath Stembo, Assistant General Manager said that "Discerning Customers with high networth of the bank require a credit card with worldwide recognition, prestige and privileges. The benefits that go with the BOC Black card is unparallel to that of any other card in the world. So we felt we owed it to our prime customers to offer them this exclusive card."

In addition to the exclusive privileges and extra ordinary international offers provided by the BOC Black Card, a cardholder and his family members automatically get entitled to a comprehensive worldwide travel insurance cover upto a maximum of US$ 250,000/- when he uses his card to purchase air tickets. Further, the cardholder and the family members become beneficiaries of a medical insurance cover scheme-to a maximum of US$. 100,000/- without any premium cost.
