KANDY – The Kandy annual Esala Perahera ends today (06) with the Day Perahera followed by the temples chiefs presenting the "Perahera Sandeshaya" to President Mahinda Rajapaksa as Head of State stating the successful completion of the procession.
At dawn today the water cutting ceremony takes place at the Getambe historic ferry of the Mahaweli.
The Day Perahera being at Gedige Vihare at Asgiriya in the afternoon.
The Diyawadana Nilame and the Basnayake Nilames of the Devales will go in procession to the Kandy Janadhipathi Mandiraya to present the "Perahera Sandeshaya."
President Rajapaksa after receiving the memorandum will present awards and certificates to artistes who performed best in the Perahera. Thus concludes historic pageant that began on July 27.
