Last year’s Division III finalists enter Division II knockout stage

Last year’s Under-17 Division III finalists, Ananda MV, Kottawa and Central College, Wadduwa are in the fray with eight other outstation teams and formidable Colombo power houses in the knockout stage of the Inter School Under-17 Division II tournament.

After doing well in their debut Division II tournament, Ananda MV, Kottawa and Wadduwa Central are just three wins behind winning their Division I promotion, but they will have to prove themselves against some of the formidable forces in school cricket circles.

Colombo and suburban power houses in the knockout stage, Nalanda College ‘B’, St. Peter’s College ‘B’, St. Sebastian’s College ’B’(Moratuwa), Thurstan College ‘B’, Royal College ‘B’ (Colombo) and S. Thomas’ College ‘B’ (Mount) will not be seeking promotions as they already have ‘A’ teams in Division I, but they will be looking beyond a semi final berth. And the rest of the teams will be looking to earn promotions.

Ananda MV, Kottawa, will find it a difficult journey from the first match of the knockout stage as they face formidable St. Sebastian’s College ‘B’,(Moratuwa) in the pre-quarter finals, while Central College, Wadduwa, will meet Wickramabahu MMV (Gampola) in their first match of the knockout stage.

The pre-quarter finals will be played this week.
