Zimbabwe under pressure – Utseya

BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe (AP) - Zimbabwe captain Prosper Utseya acknowledged that his team is under pressure from home fans going into the five one-day matches against Bangladesh.

"It’s obviously important for us to win and move up the ranks," Utseya said. "It’s an important series for us, which we need to win to give the Zimbabwean people something to smile about."

The Zimbabwe team has been boosted by the return of batsman Mark Vermeulen and Charles Coventry. Wicketkeeper Brendan Taylor, who was not in the original squad, was also drafted in the team after arriving from Australia on Wednesday.

"The fact that players coming back give us a slight advantage," Utseya said. "That’s what we want, the best possible Zimbabwe team. The guys who’ve been in the team for four years or so, it’s high time they work harder because people will come and replace them."

Bangladesh is full of confidence coming off a sweep of the test and one-day series against West Indies, although acting Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan said his team would not underestimate the opposition.

"We are professional cricketers and we always try to do our best every time we walk onto a cricket pitch," Hasan said. "We want to come and play good cricket tomorrow, win the match and look ahead to the next game."
